Nevada is the seventh largest state with 110,540 square
miles, 85% of them federally owned. It is the largest
gold-producing state in the nation and the only state with an
entire museum devoted to the life and time of entertainer Liberace.
The gambling and entertainment capital of the United States, it is
considered neither Republican nor Democrat and is the only state which
does not share information with the Internal Revenue Service.
Nevada is also known as the "Silver State" due to the history
of silver mines in the state and is the driest state with an
average annual precipitation of 9 inches. Nevada is the only state
in the US where prostitution is not outlawed at the state level, except
in the counties around Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City, and it is one of
the most sparsely populated states.
