Mount Dora, Florida Mount Dora is a city in Lake County with a population of over 11,000 residents in Central Florida. The city sits 184 feet above sea level overlooking lakes Dora, Gertrude and Beauclair. Settled in 1874, the city has been a popular winter retreat for hunting, fishing and boating. In 1883, a two-story hotel opened and still exists today as Lakeside Inn. Prestigious visitors to Mount Dora have included Presidents Coolidge and Eisenhower; Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Museums include Royellou Museum and the Antique Boat Museum. Each year, Mount Dora hosts an Art Festival, Antique Boat show, and other events. The temperatures in Mount Dora only get down to about the upper 40’s as the lows, while the high temperatures in the summer can reach 90 degrees. Mount Dora also averages about 6-7 inches of precipitation in the summer months as well, which pushes its humidity to nearly 90%. |
