The weather in Mississippi is hot and humid
with long summers and mild, short winters. Temperatures range
from a balmy 48 degrees in January to 82 degrees in July.
Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and
Jackson-Evers International Airport provide services to the
state along with five regional airports. Amtrak has two service
routes through the state as well.
Mississippi is divided into
"regions" for exploration: Hills, Delta,
Capital/River, Pines, and Coastal. The Hills has wooded vistas
and rich history. The Delta Region is where you’ll find the
Blues, along with museums, Indian mounds and cotton fields.
Capital/River Region follows the eastern border/river side of
the state and features pre-civil war homes, mansions and
battlefields.
The Pines Region, along the eastern side of the
state, has state parks to explore, the Neshoba County Fair, and
the Jimmie Rodgers Museum. The Coastal area, Biloxi to Gulfport is
filled with nightlife, Gulf water fun, and casinos offer
world-class entertainment.
