Largo, Florida Largo is the third largest city in Pinellas County, Florida with a population of more than 71,000 residents. Located on 17 square miles, Largo has been named a National Arbor Day Tree City seventeen years in a row since 1990. Largo is bordered by Clearwater, Seminole and Tampa Bay, all of which are extreme tourist sites. The climate here is affected by its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. Winters are warm and dry; summers are somewhat rainy and hot. Winter temperatures average mid 50’s as the low and upper 60’s/lower 70’s as the high, with less than 2 inches of precipitation. Summer temperatures run about upper 70’s to 90’s with an average of 6 to 8 inches of rainfall. While Largo was mostly agricultural until the 1960’s, most of its economic influx is in services and retail. Tourism is one of the largest industries as Largo is considered a bedroom community. In addition, while the population ages and snowbirds flock to this warm climate, the health care system is continuing to expand. The city is served by Tampa International Airport (20 miles east) and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (6 miles east). The Pinellas-Suncoast Transit Authority provides bus service throughout Largo as well as service to Tampa. Largo is also accessible by Interstate 275, I-75, US 19 and US 19A. Largo provides easy access to the Gulf of Mexico beaches and most of the tourist sites along the gulf coast. Largo Central Park houses the Largo Cultural Center and the award-winning Largo Public Library.
