Georgia Retirement Communities
Return to Georgia
Houston
Springs, Perry | The
Village at Deaton Creek by Del Webb,
Hoschton
Georgia has
a varied topography, from mountains in the north to the Intracoastal
Waterway on the east. You'll also find many people who have lived
their entire lives here. Much of the state seems caught in its
past; this many be a good thing or a bad thing. Reminders of the
Civil War abound, including lovely antebellum homes on leafy
streets. Spanish moss drips from magnolia trees. In towns
spared General Sherman's wrath during his march from Atlanta to the the
sea in 1864 one expects to find Margaret Mitchell around any
corner. There really does seem to be a Georgia state of mind.

Port Armor Located about an hour east
of Atlanta, this 1,300 acre retirement community has single family
homes for sale. The plan is for 600+ homes to eventually be
built here. There are no age restrictions, and the average
resident's age is early 60s. Children are
allowed as residents. The vast majority of residents are
from in-state. A golf course with views of Georgia's second
largest lake (Lake Oconee) is one of the primary drawing
cards. There is also a full service marina. Discounted
rates are offered if you'd like to come check it out. |

Reynolds Plantation
This retirement community (75 miles east of Atlanta) is a nice
size, about 7,000 acres, and offers single-family homes and
town homes for sale. The average age of residents, 52, is
slightly less than the norm, and there are no age
restrictions. If you enjoy golf, then this could be the place
for you, as there are three championship courses here. About
half the residents are from Georgia and half are from out-of-state,
primarily from Ohio, Florida and Michigan. Contact the sales
department for information on visiting before buying.
