Colorado Retirement Communities

Located on the Big Thompson River in Larimer County, Colorado, the town of Estes Park has a population of over 6,000 residents. It is a popular summer resort and the Rocky Mountain National Park headquarters are located here.

At the edge of town is The Stanley Hotel, a 1906 example of Edwardian affluence. Stephen King once stayed in the hotel inspiring the Overlook Hotel for his novel, "The Shining." Estes Park is also known as the birthplace of the credit union movement.

Denver International Airport, located 75 miles to the southeast, provides large-scale commercial service to the area. Located only 38 miles away is Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport, but only has one carrier.

The weather in Estes Park averages lows of 16-18 degrees and highs of 38 to 41 degrees in winter. In the summer you can expect lows in the low to mid 40’s and highs in the upper 70’s. The climate is dry and low in humidity with cool evenings and mostly sunny days – summer and winter.
