The city of Del Rio is located north of the Rio Grande and serves as the county seat of Val Verde County in Texas. The population of Del Rio is over 48,000 residents and it serves as the home to Laughlin Air Force Base, which is the busiest pilot training base in the United States Air Force. Del Rio International Airport serves the city, while Colgan Air provides service from Del Rio to Houston.

Del Rio’s climate is semi-arid continental with average winter temperatures of 50 degrees and an average summer temperature of 80 degrees.

Lake Amistad is one of the largest, clearest lakes in Texas and host to the annual ESPN Bass Masters Elite in April each year. Other attractions include Laughlin Aviation Museum, Val Verde Winery, Whitehead Memorial Museum, and Alamo village.
