Russell Lands

This 2,000 acre retirement community attracts a slightly younger crowd than the norm (the average age here is 50, and there is no age-restriction), and most of the residents (75%) are from in-state.  Located in east central Alabama, 40 miles northeast of Montgomery, Russell Lands sits on Lake Martin, a large, clean, shimmering body of water.  Single family homes and condominiums are for sale, and almost all face the Lake.  This area is generally recognized as one of the most affordable retirement spots in the nation.  Cost of living and home prices are below the national norm.
